Biography
Jessica Kartalija anchors the 12/5pm news at WJZ-TV CBS Baltimore. She graduated from The Pennsylvania State University and earned her Master's degree in Communications and Media Studies from Johns Hopkins University. She was named one of The Daily Record’s 40 Under 40 Leading Women and a Baltimore Rising Star from the Living Classrooms Foundation. Jessica is a member of the American News Women’s Club and National Press Club.
Prior to joining CBS in Baltimore, Jessica worked in Albuquerque, New Mexico, anchoring the 4 p.m. newscast for KOB-TV (NBC), as well as FOX 2′s News at Nine. While in New Mexico, she worked extensively with Special Olympics, providing athletes with media coaching as they prepared to participate in national and international events. Before moving to New Mexico, she was the weekend anchor and reporter for KYMA-TV in Yuma, Ariz. While there, she won first place for hard news coverage by the Associated Press. She covered stories ranging from undocumented immigration as well as border security following tragic events on September 11th.
Jessica also played a reporter in the blockbuster movie, Transformers, which was filmed throughout New Mexico, as well as a news anchor in House of Cards.
